The home of the month – September
The students has arrived to Uppsala again after the summer and the autumn does not seem to be that far away. I am on my way to Ekeby, where the September home of the month is located. After a 10 minutes walk, I am standing outside a terrace house and when I knock on the door it opens by Isabel. She is living in the house together with two friends. It’s 78 square meter large and got 2 bedrooms, one livingroom, a bathroom and a kitchen. Isabel is studying religion and she is very pleased with her education. She is living in the terrace house together with her friends and they pay 6500 swedish crowns/month, but if you divide it by three it is not that much at all. Isabel has been living in the house since she was a little girl, and when her mother moved out she took over the contract. She is renting it from Uppsala hem, and I can really see why she likes her house so much. Isabels room is located straight to the left from the hallway and after her room, you will enter the kitchen. It’s a large kitchen with a table suitable for four persons. There are also a nice bathroom, a large livingroom and another bedroom for her friends. When I ask her what the best thing is by living in this house, Isabel answers “- That I have my own little garden”. After that she shows me the garden and I can really understand why she likes living here so much.
After a few minutes, walking around in the nice terrace house, she offer me some coffee and we talk about how lucky she is living here, when so many students are looking for rooms and apartments. After a while, its time for me to go back to the student union and continue my work, but I wish Isabel good luck with her housing and her studies.
